Why Choose a Rotary Screw Compressor?

Rotary screw compressors are the perfect choice for businesses needing a reliable supply of compressed air. Generally, screw compressors are used for larger industrial applications such as food production or manufacturing lines where a continuous supply of compressed air is required. Although smaller models are commonly used for powering tools on construction sites, garages and workshops. The size of the compressor needed completely depends on your production needs.

Applications of a Rotary Screw Compressor

Due to their robust design and lack of duty cycle, screw compressors are ideally suited to larger industrial applications where the demand for constant airflow is high.

They are used for a wide range of applications, including but not limited to:

Manufacturing: Rotary screw compressors are commonly used in manufacturing to power pneumatic tools and operate air-powered equipment, such as conveyor belts and packaging machines.

Automotive: Often used in automotive repair shops and service stations to inflate tires and operate air-powered tools.

Construction: In the construction industry, screw compressors are used to power pneumatic equipment, such as jackhammers and concrete vibrators, as well as to operate air-powered hoists and cranes.

Food processing: In the food processing industry, rotary screw air compressors are used to operate air-powered equipment, such as conveyor belts and packaging machines, as well as to power pneumatic tools, such as air-powered mixers.

BENEFITS OF A

ROTARY SCREW COMPRESSOR
Explore our key features

Powerful Performance

Rotary screw air compressors are built to withstand the rigours of industrial use and are known for their long lifespan. They can run continuously without any overheating issues and generate much higher volumes of compressed air.

Continuous Operation

Rotary screw air compressors are designed to operate continuously without the need for frequent stops and starts, making them ideal for applications that require a steady flow of compressed air.

Energy Efficient

Rotary screw compressors are known for their high efficiency, as they use less energy to compress and pressurize air compared to other types of compressors. They also generate less heat than other alternatives making them a far more energy-efficient choice.

Low Maintenance

Screw compressors generally require minimal maintenance, such as oil changes, which can help reduce the overall cost of ownership.

Fixed or Variable Speed Drive?

Airmatic Compressors offer a selection of both fixed and variable speed driven screw compressors. Both have their benefits and the perfect choice for your business will depend on the demand of your applications. Fixed speed screw compressors can run continuously even when operating at full capacity. This is ideal if your application needs a constant supply of compressed air. Variable speed screw compressors are able to efficiently adjust their output to suit the demand of the task, saving you energy and money. Choosing between a fixed speed and variable speed compressor can seem a little confusing as both technologies have their own advantages.

Air Compressor Service

Regularly servicing your compressed air system is essential to maintain optimum efficiency and productivity. Explore our range of Service and Maintenance Packages to find out more.

A well-maintained compressor system runs more efficiently, consumes less energy, and significantly reduces the risk of unexpected breakdowns. Over time, components such as air filters, oil filters, separators, belts, and valves naturally wear and become less effective. Scheduled servicing ensures these parts are inspected, cleaned, or replaced before they impact performance.

Neglecting routine maintenance can lead to higher running costs, poor air quality, increased energy consumption, and unplanned downtime. For businesses that rely on compressed air for production, even a short interruption can have a major impact on productivity.

Our service packages are designed to keep your compressed air system operating at peak performance. From routine inspections and preventative maintenance to full system servicing, our experienced engineers work with all major compressor brands and system types.

Compressor

The amount of pressure you need depends on the machines and tools you use. The majority of compressed air equipment is designed to operate around 6-7 bar (90-100 psi). However, some applications require much higher pressure.

There is a general misconception that to gain more flow you need more pressure. This is not the case, depending on the equipment you operate will depend on the flow needed from the compressor. For example a shot blast bay would require 300 CFM at 7 bar.

Motor power is usually determined in KW size and in some instances, HP (Horsepower) For example a 66 CFM requirement at 7 bar would require an 11KW compressor to deliver the flow.

There are two types of rotary screw compressors available to the market ,these are Fixed speed compressors and Variable Speed Drive. Fixed Speed Compressors are capable of delivering x amount of flow at a set pressure. This technology is quite inefficient if the compressor is oversized. Variable Speed Drive is capable of delivering a minimum flow all the way through to its max output. These machines vary the distributed flow from the compressor to the required demand.
